Project Overview:
Navarro & Wright Consulting Engineers, Inc. provided design services to Full Moon Construction Company and Envirodyne Systems, Inc. for the installation of a 0.75 meter belt filter press (BFP) system at the Borough of Catasauqua (PA) wastewater treatment plant. The system included a new liquid polymer feed system; a new belt conveyor designed to transport 4,000 lbs/hr of cake; new sludge pumping equipment; and a new washwater booster pump. The belt filter press was designed to process 30 gal/min of a mixture of anaerobically digested sludge and trickling filter (humus) sludge. The press was able to achieve 20% cake solids as called for in the specifications. This project was delivered as design-build and the entire installation was completed in 4 months.
