Project Overview: Navarro & Wright designed a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) for the Dauphin County Solid Waste Management and Recycling Agency. The facility was designed to process 50 tons of material/day including glass, aluminum, fiber, ferrous and cardboard. The equipment layout and building design was developed to minimize the labor component and facilitate shipping and receiving of product. As part of this project Navarro & Wright evaluated the County's and the City of Harrisburg's current recycling programs and selected the site based on optimum transportation costs and environmental consideration. The facility consists of a tipping area, conveyors, magnetic and eddy current separators, bailers and compactors.
